For localization and implementation of SDG’s India Water Foundation created its Center for Sustainable Development Goals in December 2015. It seeks to enhance peoples understanding on sustainable development so that they can be partners in development and analyze policies, programmes and actions. It also engages with UN agencies working on sustainable development and environment for added significance in the wake of Last Decade of Action to realize the goals invested and incubated in PEOPLE, PLANET and PROSPERITY. Its focus is on Localization and Customization of SDGs to leverage capacity building, best practices, innovations, case studies and social inclusion especially with marginalized sections, women and youth for overall SDG implementation through partnerships and intersectoral cooperation.
Purpose
Since inception on 16 December 2015, Center for Sustainable Development Goals have spearheaded the realization of SDGs as they are intimately linked in myriad ways. Water, a vital resource is a socio-economic connector for every living being and serves as forward and backward linkages with sectors like health, education, gender energy, agriculture, industry and climate change.
Center for SDGs facilitates capacity building of stakeholders to fulfill the knowledge gap, dissemination and assimilation of knowledge, identification of critical issues hindering sustainable development. By agreeing to establish this Center, our message is clear – to ensure that we ACT NOW together in pursuit of a shared development vision’. Its broad objective is to achieve SDGs keeping water as the centerpiece and socio-economic connector to bring 17 SDGs under a common platform unified in mainstream localization, sustainability and inclusivity. It serves as a catalyst for developing a common strategic vision to facilitate sustainable achievement of targets and goals.
We promote integrated approaches to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through education, research, capacity building and cooperation. Trigger an ecosystem for innovative thinking to disrupt sectoral thinking and subsequently synergizing a decisive contribution in terms of driving sustainable development. Initiating our activities from Meghalaya and taking it to Aspirational districts of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand we have been working towards sensitizing women on official programmes, policies bringing awareness and developing proactive attitude of participation, Eco-WaSH, Menstrual Hygiene Management etc. Smarter decision-making based on the best knowledge available through synergistic networks and partnerships. Engaging women in agribusiness creating self-help groups to diversify activities. Institutions/Partnerships and Stakeholder networks promotion to suit women community’s interests. Identify leading practices in SDGs to be replicated across country-specific contexts through cross-sectoral capacity building, top-down and bottom-up approach in operationalization of SDGs. It is facilitated through seminars, conferences, symposia, surveys, studies, documentation, preparation of preliminary Project reports, Detailed Project report and outreach and personal contact programs etc. Also, to supplement the national governments and the global world in integrating the salient features of the international agreements on related development issues as envisaged in SDGs by SENSITIZE, INCENTIVIZE AND GALVANIZE model that could transform the realization of SDGs through cooperation, coordination and Partnerships in this Planet A with ‘No One Left Behind’.

Our mission is to expand sustainable development goals knowledge, skills, and mindset that motivates individuals to become deeply committed to build a sustainable future and to make informed and effective decisions with internationally recognized and locally relevant tools to engage learning and access the degree of awareness on sustainable development challenges and solutions.
Vision
Our vision is to localize, customize and develop worldwide literacy about Sustainable development goals and empower, engage committed citizens and Vulnerable populations to make informed and responsible decisions, and collectively build a sustainable future.
